Measure the world.
Distances is a beautiful and intuitive iPhone and iPod touch application that lets you measure just about anything on a map. Because Distances allows you to use an unlimited amount of measuring points you can measure the dimensions of any building like the Brandenburg Gate or St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome, get the length of the Niagara Falls or the Grand Canyon and, of course, find out the air-line distance between Los Angeles and Tokyo via Hawaii.
Save and edit.
Distances allows you to save your measurements to view or edit them later. The build-in search helps you to find any saved item within seconds. Distances even displays a thumbnail that represents the map section you measured for quick recognition.
Feels like iPhone.
Distances was designed to just look and feel like iPhone. You can drag and drop measurement pins to any location. Double-tap a pin to delete it. Move and zoom the map while you are measuring. Choose between standard, satellite and hybrid map material. Rotate your device to use Distances in landscape mode. And enjoy a clean, easy to use and beautiful user interface.
Locate, search and find.
Distances allows you to use your current GPS position as a starting point for a new measurement. Alternatively, you can search for countries, states, cities, streets or any other point of interest. You can even look up addresses from your address book to find your friend's house or office. Just find exactly what you are look for.
Share your measurements.
Distances lets your share saved measurements with the whole world using our free web service DistanceSharing. Once uploaded, you can publish what you measured via Facebook, Twitter or email. And, of course, you can copy & paste the link to your measurement just anywhere else.
Easy viewing.
You can view all shared measurements using any Mac or PC connected to the world wide web. Even if you don't own a copy of Distances and without installing any additional software. Here's an example.
If you use DistanceSharing on your iPhone or iPod touch you can view any shared measurement directly within Distances. Which means that you can even save a modified version on your device.
Twitter & iPhone.
There are a lot of truly great Twitter apps for the iPhone. And Distances allows you to use your favorite one. You can choose one of these four clients (including the pro version, if available).
