History, present and a little bit of future.

phapswebsolutions was found in spring 2007 and is being run by Matthias Plappert. Since then we created web applications and websites for various customers. We also provided our customers with a slim and easy to use content management system which was mainly used for personal and portfolio websites.

In summer 2008 Apple introduced the official iPhone SDK and the App Store. As development for a mobile device like the iPhone was - and still is - really exciting, we decided to shift our focus. Within one year we created several apps for various customers, for example virtualnights, a nighlife guide app for Germany.

After having worked more then two years as a service provider we decided it was time to concentrate on our own ideas and projects. This is what we do right now. Until now two ideas became reality - weekday! and Distances, both available on the App Store.

What about the name?

The name phapswebsolutions has its origin in a made-up word that combines “PHP“ and “apps“. We started to like the name and so we are still using it although we do not center on the development of web applications any more.

The guy behind the company.

Although I am using the plural everywhere on the website, the company consists only of one single person. However, I think that using the plural makes it more easy to differ between the business I am running and the private person I am.

Now that you know that I am not schizophrenic, let me introduce myself. My name is Matthias Plappert and I live and work in Ulm which is located in Southern Germany. In my spare time I like to photograph, read, watch great movies, listen to music or meet with friends. I love beautiful, intuitive user interfaces, nice graphics and solid, elegant code.
